Training Manual
for Boat Crews & Coxswain |
|
|
|
As you all know, the
Coast Guard no longer
distributes the
voluminous Boat Crew Seamanship Manual because of printing costs. Instead, a
CD containing the material is available. However, printing the 888
pages of
the text would strangle
most home office printers! The good news is that the publishing
combination of International
Marine/McGraw-Hill have
published the
|
|
same Boat Crew Seamanship
Manual (re-titled "Small Boat Seamanship Manual") and have made it available
online through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The content is identical to the
Coast Guard manual. The editor is Richard Aarons and the ISBN is
0-07-146882-X. A new copy sells for $20 with a variable
selection of used copies
available for less.

Electronic Marine Navigation
On March 13th,
2008 The Nanticoke River Yacht Club and the United States Coast Guard
Auxiliary, Seaford Flotilla, will be sponsoring a seminar on Electronic
Marine Navigation with a representative from Furuno. This program is open to
NRYC members, USCG Auxiliarists, and slip holders at the Nanticoke River
Marine Park. In addition to the finding out more about marine electronics,
there will be information available about up coming boating safety courses,
vessel safety checks, USCG Auxiliary and NRYC events. This will be a great
opportunity to kick off the boating season and meet the members of the
Seaford boating community.
